Fair Workplace Council Sweatshop Free Electronics

SweatFree Communities and Fair Workplace Council have agreed to form an alliance. Fair Workplace Council proudly becomes a SweatFree Communities Partner.

Fair Workplace Council will lend its expertise in the area of consumer electronics in order to help expand the scope of the excellent work that SweatFree Communities is already doing in their effort to help stop cities and states from purchasing sweatshop made garments and apparel with tax payer money.

 SweatFree Communites mission is to end sweatshop conditions by inspiring responsible local purchasing and fostering solidarity between U.S. communities and workers worldwide. Successful sweatfree campaigns bring people together and build power for local communities to decide how to spend their tax dollars.

SweatFree Communities supports local campaigns that convince school districts, cities, states, and other institutional purchasers to adopt sweatshop free purchasing policies and stop subsidizing sweatshops and abusive child labor practices with tax dollars. There are over a 170 public institutions which include school districts, cities, counties, and even states that have adopted anti-sweatshop procurement policies. SweatFree Communities is helping to organize a State and Local Government Sweatfree Consortium that will pool resources and coordinate implementation and enforcement of sweatshop free procurement standards.
